DIY Minecraft 3D models

For the first lesson of term 2 I thought we’d do something a bit different. We’ll make 3D models of Minecraft objects with paper! This requires access to a printer (preferably colour) to print out the design. Students will also need scissors and a glue stick or sticky tape. Some of these models are difficult so parents will need to adjust what designs students attempt according to individual abilities. All of these designs have been sourced from: http://www.pixelpapercraft.com/

The first design is a bookshelf block. It’s a standard cube.

Click the image below and print using the browser Print function.
Check that it scales to fill the whole sheet of paper.

Everyone good student needs a bookshelf or two.

Command blocks can be programmed to all sorts of awesome things.

Your wish is my command (if you can figure out how to program it)

And of course crafting blocks are essential to make all the tools you need to survive and thrive in the world.

Emeralds are also significant in Minecraft as they are the currency used by villagers and wandering traders.

For more challenging models, try these:

Original Steve – designed by Markus Alexej Persson (“Notch”)

And we can’t forget Alex – the girls love her can do attitude.
